Hi, I’m Chika! I’m passionate about all things women of color and believe it is my calling to inspire Black women to find self-love, self-worth, and experience the healing that enables them to have the confidence to live the full expression of themselves.
Growing up as one of the few Black, and only Nigerian, families in our neighborhood, I often struggled to find a positive sense of belonging and identity. I continued to explore that tension while studying at Harvard where I wrote my honors thesis on race and identity in the Black community amongst Black Americans and Black immigrants.
In 2015, while getting my MBA at Stanford, I came across a casting call that openly discriminated against dark skinned Black women. That motivated me to give a TEDx talk raising awareness of the issue of colorism and how women of color can still have self confidence despite the prejudice in society.
That talk has been viewed over 1 million times, translated to 6 different languages, and has lead to other opportunities to speak about ways women of color can build self-worth and feel empowered. I’ve had the opportunity to spread this message on various platforms such as podcasts, BET, and Facebook Watch Series: Red Table Talk.
When I’m not public speaking, I’m inspiring young women as a business leader and mentor. I work in marketing strategy helping consumer brands identify their target market and develop strategies to help them grow. I’ve worked at companies such as Procter & Gamble, Google, and most recently FabFitFun. I’ve also received training as a coach and mentor in graduate school where I coached young professionals in my program on how to plan and handle life transitions in their professional and personal lives.
Contact me to work with me and help me spread my message of self-love, self-worth, and empowerment to women of color around the world!
